Family Dines Out - Makes Evening News

If you watched KRON Channel 5 on the evening of October 12, 2001 you might have caught a glimpse of the San Jose Bretschneiders on TV.

Debbie had read about a coordinated Dine Out Across America activity at a number of restaurants, where some portion of the proceeds were going to the Windows on the World fund.  WOTW was the restaurant on top of one of the two WTC Buildings.

Anyway, we trucked the family downtown to the Old Spaghetti Factory and had a pleasant evening.  After, as I went to get the car, Debbie and Justin wandered around looking at the shark sculptures (if you're from out of town, that's a whole 'nother story.)  They bumped into the Channel 5 reporter and camera crew and we ended up getting interviewed about why we were downtown and where we had eaten.

Of course we were only about 10 seconds of a two minute story, but as you'd expect from me I've digitized the event for those who missed it.  Oh, and Debbie wants everyone to know that she isn't angry in the pictures above, it's just that the camera lights were pointed right in her eyes.  :-)

Hope you enjoy.  Let me know if you can't see the movie.

Are on a dial-up line, with limited bandwidth, or just don't want to wait for a download.  The image is a little blurry and sound may sound scratchy, but it's viewable. Fast download - blurry and scratchy - Windows
Are on a dial-up line or DSL-cable modem and want to see a slightly better image and sound, but still want to minimize your wait time. Slower download - Clearer - Windows
Are on a Macintosh Moderately fast download - good images and sound - Macintosh or Windows with Quicktime installed
Want to see the whole news report on the Windows on the World Event, including the clip with us.  This download is about 10x larger than the ones above which are just the part of the news report where we were on screen. Large download - Windows
Same as last item, but Quicktime format.  Slightly smaller download, at the cost of a little audio fidelity and occasional pixilation.  (Sorry I can't make the fidelity of these more parallel, but adjusting the Mac options for a slightly better image made this jump from 1.5mb to 6mb.  Maybe I'm just not as smart as I think I am...)
